The Life of a Little Lovebug

I can see the peak!

I can definitely see the peak of the mountain I have been climbing in my recovery from immune-mediated peripheral neuropathy! I'm almost there! Mommy weighed me today and I am now a whopping 7.8 pounds!!! Charlie and I are getting close to Lucy's weight of 9 lbs and we've still got a lot of growing left to do. Wonder what Lucy's going to think of having two little brothers who are bigger than her?!

Mommy spoke with my neurologist and tonight my prednisolone dose will be cut down to a quarter of a 5 mg pill. This is a big step and mommy has to watch me closely over the next few days to make sure that I don't start having any problems. If all goes as planned and I transition to a lower dose without any problems, we are hopeful that I can be fully weaned off of the steroids within a month or two, maybe by the holidays!

I never could have done this without my Catster friends and all your purrs. I can't even begin to describe how much it meant to mommy and me. I also want to say thanks to the groups that purred for me! I've made so many new friends and it's been wonderful. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

During my illness, there was one night that was especially difficult for me and mommy. It was the evening that I went downhill very quickly. I was no longer able to stand, walk, or use the litterbox and I had stopped eating. We'd just returned from seeing the third vet who was almost positive that I had toxoplasmosis and that Lucy and Charlie might also get really sick. We were waiting for the neurologist appointment the following morning and mommy was so afraid that I wouldn't make it through the night. I was just so weak. It was so scary.

On this awful evening, the wise kitties from the Olde Furts group extended an invitation for me to join their group. This was extra special because you have to be older than 10 to be an Olde Furt and I was only 6 months old! But they have fantastic threads filled with information on getting an ill cat to eat, administering medication, and lots of other helpful stuff. The invitation came on the evening before my neurology appointment, when everything seemed so bleak and the Olde Furts were SO supportive and helpful.

I'd like to say a special thank you and I love you to the Olde Furts. Now that I am healthy and back to my kitten ways, I am graduating from the group! Of course, I'll be back to officially join the Olde Furts in 9 years and 5 months but in the meantime, I'm back to being a junior Furt! Thank you! I love you!

Foxy kitten headbonks,
Leo

I'm glad you're doing better! I'm glad you found a diagnosis...you have a good mommy. She was persistent and now you're getting to grow up and are looking cuter in every picture I see!

We love you too Leo. I am so super happy you can see the peak of the mountain. I still check up on you little pal(i am 11 pounds) Just cuz you are graduating doesn't mean the furts aren't going to be looking after you and purring for you and clapping their paws when you make an achievement -but you know that.
Clapping happily,
Misha

Yep, it's time to get away from those Olde Furts until you turn 10. You don't want to be in the rocking chair before it's your time!

Aw sweetie! I'm so furry happy that you are doing so well! And you are growing up to be such a handsome young boycat!

I think it was one particular, furry wise and furry special angel Olde Furt, Scooter who invited you to Olde Furts that night. And I know that all the Olde Furts were furry happy that she did and that we could be there fur you.

purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs,
Auntie Em

Shhh ! What's that?
Underneath my purrs is my heart singing a song of joy !

May you tolerate well your steroid decrease and be "roid-free" for the holidays !

But, watch out... You're making those Old Furts dance and who knows what might break or fall of them if they dance too hard.
;)

P.S.
I'm going to have to find where my Angel put my *measurements* and we can compare "manly figures"
=)))
