The whimsical feline graffiti that has mushroomed throughout the Los Angeles area since the first of this year may be euthanized soon.
Authorities arrested and booked Rick Ordonez this week on suspicion of scrawling graffiti images of cats in Alhambra and neighboring SoCal locations, a felony charge.

Detective Marlon Johnson said that Ordonez is suspected of causing about $15,000 worth of damage to freeways, buildings and private property this year. According to officials, most of the drawings were of cats.
Ordonez is a graphic designer and former skateboard shop owner who goes by the nickname “Atlas.” He is believed to belong to a Los Angeles-area tagging crew, though the investigation focused solely on him as an individual.
Ordonez kept cats as pets and described him as a “cat-lover,” said Det. Johnson.
Ordonez was due in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday for arraignment, and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
