Zippo is in ICU in critical condition. Care Credit only approved a mere 500 and I gave them the last 400 I had. Estimate
was originally over 1700 min & almost 3000 on the hi end. My baby is not doing good. I'm so scared for him and I don't want to fail him! Thank you Gump for that link! I KNOW & the ICU vet agrees that it is likely Hepatic Lipidosis. I think it was caused by the rotten teeth & oral discomfort/pain. They think its something worse. They want to do all these tests that I can no longer afford because of the last 8 visits to all the vets. Every time I went in it was cuz he wasnt eating! And for complications from the loss of appetite and/or oral pain. I too wish they had told me how to get his required foods into him. I kept trying & trying to give him all kinds of foods. Rx cat foods, broth, baby food. He'd only eat a teaspoon or less a day solids &I told the vets that almost DAILY. I know that HL is curable but I don't think I have enough $$ to save him. God I hope they understand and treat him aggressively nutritionally within my means & save all the expensive tests for when he's stable :(

Thank goodness you took him in to get immediate care! Could you get copies of the tests the other vets have done so they have more information about what's happening? If they know he hasn't been eating and his livers number are off, then have to realize he has developed HL. And I hope they have put a feeding tube in him. If they can get him stabilized, he can have the feeding tube left in for at home care. Here is a link with info about feeding tubes: www.catinfo.org
I included one link about hepatic lipidosis, but there is a lot more info online about it - just google.
And here is a link to some information posted in the Catster forums about getting help with vet bills: www.catster.com
We will be thinking about Zippo and purring and purraying for him! You are doing so much for him! If only you had gotten better vet care. Please keep us updated, I'm sure there are many cats purring for him.
Hugs!
