why my cat breath with mouth open sometimes

It's not really common for cats to pant like dogs do. But sometimes when they get really over excited they do. Kira did it at the vet after he tried to draw blood several times sticking needles in her and then did various other things to upset her. Kira also breathed through her mouth before she had her surgery because she had polyps blocking her nasal passages and was unable to breath normally. If it truly seems abnormal or if the cat might be congested due to an upper respiratory infection then you should see the vet. But if she just does it when she's really hot, really stressed or after vigorous playtime, then it's just panting.

Chopper Boogotti Moceri

It's called "phleming" and it is how they access thier environment. They "roll" scents through their olfactory sinues this way. Some cats do it more often than others. It looks unusual, but is not uncommon for any cat to do this. .
