We're going to the Vet this week.

It could possibly be allergies. An allergy can cause the inner ear to become inflammed and sore and cause him to shake his head. He may also have a foreign body down there other than mites. Going to your vet is your best bet--glad you're doing that--because itchy ears can be highly annoying, not to mention painful.

Unless a vet had ruled out mites you don;t know for sure there are none. It could also be an infection. A vet needs to examine the ears to determine the cause.
