Believe it or not, elderly cats, like elderly humans, can suffer from dementia or Alzheimer's like conditions. If this were a sudden change in her behavior, I would suggest you at least call your vet, especially if she hasn't been in a while. If your cat has ALWAYS done this, it's probably because number one, you tolerate it and number two, she finds comfort in it. She has always seen you as her "momma" and "nursing" is what baby cats do, not only for food but also for comfort. Cats who were separated from their mothers too early are the ones who usually do this. It's like an infant or toddler sucking their thumbs.
