You don't say how long you've had your kitten or whether or not you know what her previous life was like. However, some cats do prefer the company of other cats and some resent being part of a multi-cat family. In the case of the former, you can socialize your kitten by gentle playtimes, quiet and calm attitudes and by letting her set the pace for her socialization. Do not allow anyone to tease, harrass or chase her, grab her or force her to be held. When she comes around, be casual and quiet and let her explore her surroundings. Play with the male and encourage (but don't force) her to join in. She may never be a cuddler or a lapcat, but with patience, love and perseverence, you may be able to convince her that she's loved and safe.
