What is the prognosis for an 8 week old kitten with a URI?

We got my kitten early (to save his life) at 5-6 weeks. He was fighting for his life when we got him. We took him to the vet and he recovered after 2 days hospitalization about 2 weeks ago.
We took him back to the vet and he has an Upper Respiratory Infection.
What is the prognosis for a semi-weak kitten with a URI?
He has been give antibiotics. We were told he will probably get worse before he gets better.
I'm just looking for advice on how to ensure he does we;; and an answer to the prognosis

An upper respiratory infection in cats is the same thing as kennel cough in dogs... common and curable. However, in SEVERE cases your kitten might not make it, and your vet would surely inform you of that. Is that what happened? We are not vets here, and if you are not happy with what your vet told you, just like if it was yourself and a doctor, take him in for a second opinion to a local/recommended clinic. ^_^
