What does the cat vaccination "RTVCP" mean and protect against. We just adopted a 3 mos. old kitten from local shelter

I have never heard of that one. The most common is FVRCP which is for a variety of upper respiratory viruses and distemper. Then there is one for Rabies. And often one for FIV/FELV (Feline AIDS and Leukemia) but the letters "RTVCP" are nothing I have ever seen for feline vaccinations.

Like Allie, I've never heard of this one either. However, vets are always educating themselves about new diseases and lots of vets will vaccinate the animals in their neighborhoods/cities for specific diseases that may be present in their communities. The only thing I can think of is feline rotovirus which is thought to weaken the animal's immune system and open the door, so to speak, for parvo and other nasty diseases. You can always call the shelter to ask what this vaccination was for.
