we have a 10 yr old male. Always healthy. 3 weeks ago he began with some vomiting. Vomited every day for about 4. Then he seem to stop. But he slowed down eating. In the last week he has eaten very little and has lost weight. But in the last 2 days he has become lethargic. we are taking him to the vet tomorrow but I am worried he will not make it. What could have happened to cause this quick decline?

He might be sick, or he might have gotten a hold of something like a poison toad. Your vet will run tests and be able to tell you. Cats instinctually hide their illnesses to protect themselves in the wild, so by the time we humans figure out that they are ill, the problem has worsened. Good luck and keep an eye on your older guy! ^_^
