Two male litter mates, 7-8 yrs old and both neutured. They have recently started getting into horrible fights. Help?
We live in a small apartment, but they have been together all their lives and, before this current place, have not done this before to our knowledge. It lasts for days at a time. What the hell is going on?

Catsters recommend that whenever there is a sudden change in behavior such as you describe, a trip to the vet's is almost a necessity. If one is not well, the other will "pick on" him. If all checks out well for both cats, examine your life. Has anything changed? A common issue is the appearance of a stray cat outside. Your cats will fight with each other b/c they can't get to the stray. It's called misplaced aggression. If you have recently moved, the stress can cause many changes in their behavior. Have you had them all their lives? You indicate you don't know if they've ever behaved like this. If not, you may want to ask their previous owner if they have and what their former owner did about it. Observe their behavior and you may be able to pinpoint what sets them off. My cats chase and hiss and Lizzie and Delilah swat and growl, but we've had no actual fighting. Cats usually don't fight when a hiss/swat/growl will do. When you go to the vet, ask for their advice.
