Stressed out due to unavoidable changes in environment, need advice to calm Milo's nerves

My 1.5 year old kitty Milo has always been a bit fiesty. He does not like men thanks to my mother's boyfriend, and is skittish around strangers. My mother recently decided that Milo couldn't live at home anymore. After a very emotional decision I decided the best option was for Milo to live with my boyfriend's parents for a month or two while I apartment hunt for somewhere that will allow both Milo, and my boyfriends kitty. Since moving in with the in-laws and their 10 year old girl Izzy, Milo has been very withdrawn and doesn't like to socialize. I've made sure to keep as many constants as the situation allowed, such as same food, litter box, blankie, toys, etc. but Milo hasn't been eating. Mother in law says the only time he socializes is at night with Izzy when all people are in bed. I'm hoping that since he's only been there a week, things will improve with time, just looking for any tips for helping my baby cope.

Milo's life has been completely turned upside down. Not only that, but it sounds like he may have been abused by Mom's BF as well. The fact that he does come out at night at least is a good sign. He's probably eating then as well. Try to spend as much time at your BF's parent's house as you can. Play with Milo and love on him as much as he'll allow. You need to be the "constant" in his life right now. He will adjust but if you move him again when you find an apartment, you'll have to restart the process. Try to get your in-laws on board with Milo as well. Ask them to play with him, etc. Good luck!

Milo may like some cat furniture or a space where he is able to have window access to view cat television.
