Some bleach-free laundry detergent spilled on top of my cats and burned it.

Some bleach-free laundry detergent spilled on my cats ear and looks as if it has burned his ear. What chemicals in laundry detergent could have caused this? And is there anythig i could put on it to soothe it? I have given him a sensitive skin bath and No i have not been to the vet. I do not have money for the vet right now.

We are not vets here, only people who love cats. No one can diagnose or help your cat over the internet. I would NOT put anything on the area without a vet's okay - or it might make it worse. With all due respect, you cat needs to see a vet ASAP. If it were a human child, you'd be off the clinic (or charged with neglect). As the owner of the cat, he is your responsibility. To be perfectly blunt - if you cannot afford a vet, you cannot afford a cat. Please take your cat to a vet or re-home him to someone who can care for him.

Something I've always wished people would realize is that there are very, very few home remedies out there for cats. The majority of feline injuries & illnesses require prescription medication that can only be obtained through a licensed veterinarian. I know that times are tough right now, for myself included, but animals feel pain just the same as a human does. In my humble opinion, it is better to turn an injured animal over to animal control if you cannot afford to give it the medical care it needs. In all states, it is a crime to neglect an animal's medical needs. People don't like to think about the financial responsibility that comes along with an animal,& I don't understand why. I am a college student & consistently broke. Last year my cat Jose got very sick & I had to charge his medical bills to my credit card. I spent thousands on him that I most certainly did not have. If I could do that, you can certainly spend a much smaller amount for this cat. It's the right thing to do
