The ASPCA and Humane Society offer low cost clinics for vaccinations and spay/neuter but they are not free. The reason they charge an adoption fee when people get a pet from them is so that they can cover some of the costs of the vet care they give the animals at the shelter. They are primarily supported by donations and don't have the funds to provide free services. Good luck with your new baby though!

Izadore (Izzie)

Kira is right. They only give free vaccinations to those animals that they, themselves have rescued or taken in. Sorry. You can contact them to see when they will have a "low-cost vaccinations" program. They have them pretty frequently here where I live. You can also contact a local rescue or shelter for low cost public vaccination programs. Please join Catster and post photos of you new little darling. We LOVE baby pictures here!!!

Smoochie-the thrill kill cat!

I dont think ASPCA or humane society would just give the shots away. once you surrender them <kittens> they are the ASPCA's responsibilities.
they will provide food, shelter and medical and pass the cost, <substantially cheaper> to the adoptee.

My cat cost me $80 from local human society, its about $50 (2 visits a year) for vet visits, plus shots and boosters. And shes worth every penny. the company and value add she brings to me is priceless.
