Your best bet is to write down the name of the product, its manufacturer, the ingredients in it & amounts of those ingredients, the recommended dosage & ask your vet how safe or effective that particular product is.

Some products are good, others don't work well, still others may even be unsafe for cats. Most veterinarians don't mind a client asking questions about OTC products, they don't mind clients using safe effective OTC products, & they appreciate owners asking for advice before trying OTC drugs because cats ARE very chemical sensitive & many drugs safe for dogs & humans are lethal to cats.
