Recently,1 of my cats has started just sitting in the litter box. Is there a reason for this?

I have 6 cats (indoor)that range in age from 1 to 11 years old. They are all healthy and get along.

It may be that your cat is feeling insecure. Cats like to surround themselves with their scent, and he or she may feel that so many other cat scents leave them with little space of their own to claim as theirs alone. The litter box has strong odors of their own, and it's like a nest in shape. Try rubbing a towel on the cat's face and chin (petting them with it. This gets their scent well into the fabric) and then put it in a nice cozy place (such as in a basket in a warm room)for them to explore and feel comfortable in.
