Our young cat suddenly died. Please help us figure out what happened!

Two weeks ago our beloved cat Jackson passed. He was a beautiful, active and healthy cat of only three and a half years. We are still baffled at how this happened and are turning to this forum to maybe hear a viable theory.

Jackson was eating, playing (chasing his brother Vernon around) and being social all day. When he passed my wife was in the next room playing with our baby and the other cat was sleeping on a chair. None of us heard a thing.

We found him dead with his body stiff, head turned in a strange position with his eyes rolled in the back of his head with his teeth bared and clenched.

The vet at the animal hospital suspected a heart attack. Our cat's regular vet suspected a seizure, but went on to describe what he thinks was a stroke (clot loosened somewhere in Jackson's body and lodged in his brain, causing close to instant death). After leaving the office I realized that a seizure is different from a stroke. Jackson had no prior medical issues. Any theories?

The only way that you will know for sure is to pay a few hundred for an autopsy. It could have been a stroke, or sometimes choking victims make no sounds. Sorry for your loss. When you're ready, there are plenty of homeless kitties waiting to be adopted. ^_^
