Our kitty is almost a year old, we have three other cats. The newest kitty, we have had her about 7 months, will go pott

We have a kitty we have had for about 7 months. we had three other cats when we got her, we got her from SPCA. This kitty will go potty next to the box and urinate next to the box but she will not go IN the box. We really do not want to get rid of her, but, what do we do? Really need some help with this.

How many boxes do you have? You should own one box per cat. Maybe you need to scoop out the boxes more- at least once a day. Longhairs are notorious for doing this. However, if keeping a cat is conditional on his/her doing exactly what you want, then you should definitely start looking for a good home for her now. Otherwise, you may be disappointed if you change litters, boxes, move the boxes, try doggie wee pads, etc. and the behavior does not change. She could have been an outside cat before- can you get a cat door and see if she will go outside? ^_^
