One of my cats recently had surgrey, no my other cat wants nothing to do with him. What can I do?
My cats were brother and sister, now they don't get along, this happened after one went one for surgrey. Now one needs to wear a cone around his head for a couple of days until the stritches are removed. What can I do?How can I get them back together?

This is not unusual behavior for cats when one leaves for a while and then returns. Cats are very "scent-oriented". When your cat came home, he smelled "odd". He smelled like the vet's and also like any medications they gave him. He picked up scents of other animals. His sister is confused, especially since he's also got a cone on. He may also be a little crabby with her because he's might have a little pain and be a little weirded out from his surgery. Give them a few days. Supervise, but don't interfer. Give both as much love and cuddles as they'll accept. They'll work it out after a week or so and all will be back to normal.

The same thing happened when our boy had a hernia op. Our girl just turned on him, hissing & swiping him with her paw. It was upsetting for us as he was feeling very sorry for himself after the op. Cats recognise each other through scent so she obviously couldn't recognise him with all the smells from the vets on him & she was nervous of him. He stayed out of her way & after a few days she started to come round him again. I suppose the vets smells were wearing off then. I wouldn't force them together, in a few days they'll be back to normal. Its awful to think they'd turn on each other but mine are brother & sister too & although they just actually tolerate each other, they get on pretty well. They were back to normal in no time so don't worry. The trials & tribulations of caring cat owners!!!!
