I assumed that it would only be there for a few days during the rain, and tried to shoo it when I could as we already have an indoor cat that tends to go nuts when he sees a cat near the window. Usually when it saw me it would run under the deck, but last night I heard meowing while making dinner and went on the porch to see it sitting there. I said one "here kitty, kitty" and it came right up to head-but me and rub on my leg. From this I know that it is not feral, and it looks to be very well fed, considering that I have seen it under my deck for a few weeks. I don't want it to adopt it, we have one very old cat and want to be pet-free for a few years after he passes. I have only pet it, I HAVE NOT fed it, nor let it inside. I don't want it killed, as it is not feral, and I suspect it might be a neighbors, and I don't want to take someone's pet. If a microchip is found a shelter may be able to find it's last known address. good luck.

Make sure it is one of those breakaway collars so they don't get caught on something. That way if the cat has a home, the owners will see the note and call you.

Then if it isn't try taking a picture and put it on a flyer and put them up in different places so more people can see . It could be that the cat just went out for a walk and anybe got lost or is just visiting people . Or way she doesn't sound like a feral cat . If all of this doesn't work to find her family and you still don't want another pet . Try finding her a good home for her . That is how I got one of my brothers . The people who found him had four cats of their own and they didn't get along with him so they put up adds in the supermarkets to find him a home of his own .
