My kittens litter tray is right next to the toilet and whenever I go to the toilet, he joins me next to me in his tray
It's like he knows when I need to go to the toilet, and he'll do a wee at the same time. It's quite funny but does anyone else's cats do this?? Why does he go in sync with me? Lol

Do you give him attention at this time? It's quite possible that he looks forward to this time together with you.
My cat likes to poop when I'm in the shower. It is definitely a way to reduce that "clean" feeling in the morning.

Pim did that when he first came to live with us, except didn't have a litter tray next to the loo!lol! Ma got in the loo quick when he wasn't around and he stopped and went to his litter tray. Perhaps he felt insecure and needed to be with Ma. Pim uses my litter tray to, he is a bit of a bully, so could also like to assert himself.

Did you purrhaps read your cat a book called "Everybody Poops"?or just left it somewhere? Oh I know, your cat took your library card? Oh?he has his own. Well there you go. Case solved.
