My friends cat has dark stuff in the corners of his eyes,she cleans it but its staining his fur,what is it?

It's not uncommon for normal eye discharge to be discolored - even black. It will pick up dust, oil and other pollutants in the environment. However, if there is any suspicion that it is something other than normal discharge (it's bloody, excessive or has an odor) then you should see the vet. My cat's eye discharge is black - and for him that is normal.

Like the other post said, it is normal. Just like people get eye goobers, so do pets! If you want to keep it cleaned, you can use PETfection Eye Wash & Cleaner on him. As the other posts said it's completely normal for cats to have that "dark stuff" on the corners of their eyes. If it's staining you could use a eye stain remover for cats. Theres a huge variety of brands to use from like Eye Envy or Angel Eyes. The dark stuff is just eye discharge-totally normal
