My four month old kitten just threw up a sort of clear with whitish tinged liquid.

He is normally a a healthy kitten who eats and plays like normal. He runs around ALOT so i was thinking he might be nauseous. When i lift him up sometimes he sort of makes a wrenching noise like he is nauseous and this is he first time he ever threw up. I used to think he drank a lot of water, but i mean now it doesnt seem that much, but he just drink his water. He is on a wet food diet of Wellness kitten brand with a dry food left out all day. I will take hime to the vet to be sure but just before I was wondering if any one had any ideas. I was reading clear liquid could mean renal failure, but it was not completely clear, maybe it had some food it in, not sure. thanks!

Sometimes kitties eat things that they shouldn't and they throw it up. I.ve had to put toys up that my cats would eat. It would be clear and eventually a piece of toy would come up with it. Make sure your home is as kitty proof as possible of these dangers. My vet told me that two of the things that he has surgically removed from cats is cotton swabs and hair scruchies. Also, cats who groom themselves will sometimes throw up hairballs. Just because he threw up doesn't mean he has renal failure. Do take him to the vet for an exam, it's always to be safe than sorry. We aren't vets here, and you know your cat better than anybody else.

I wouldn't be too worried for just one barf episode. If he was vomiting a lot or if you think he may have gotten into something toxic or eaten a poisonous plant or something then I would be concerned. But cats can get sick and puke a little without horrifying thoughts like renal failure. Especially since he is just a baby. Just keep an eye on him to make sure he is eating, drinking and using the litter ok. Not acting lethargic or anything like that. He will probably be just fine. The vet is always a good idea if you are concerned. But with 6 cats that gets a little expensive so I have learned when not to panic. And try to be cautious when you pick him up. If he is gagging from being picked up, you may be squishing his tummy or something. Try holding him differently. Under the chest and support his bottom and not around the tummy.

This sounds like its just bile or something harmless like that. Humans sometimes get this, especially if they have eaten too quickly or get over excited (or drunk, but I guess you can rule that out!!). Keep an eye on him, if he does it a lot and goes off his food, that would not be good, but a little sick like this sounds like nothing to worry about. Us kitties just like to expel something we dont like, that's why we eat grass!
