You don't say how old your cat is or if she gets along with other cats. But, if the introductions are done right, if you understand that having 2 cats means twice the expense, twice the litter clean up, etc., there is no reason why your cat couldn't accept a pal. When you decide, do your research on introducing cats to each other. Don't adopt another cat, bring it home and just let it out of the carrier. Speak with a trusted vet or shelter, explain to them your lifestyle and your cat's personality and let them advise you on what sort of cat to adopt. Shelters know their cats and can match you and your resident kitty with one who will fit into your home.
