Allow 15 human years for the first year of your cat's life.Add nine years for the second year. A two-year old cat will approximate 24 human years.
Add four human years each for successive years of his life. According to my calculations, Garfield is 92! Of course, it depends on what kind of kitty he is. It's said that Maine Coons don't reach their full growth until they're 5 years old. It also depends on whether a cat goes outside. Outside kitties don't live as long as indoor ones due to the dangers they face outside. It also depends on the vet care they've gotten over their lives. Simply put, when your kitty is sick, you take him to the vets and there's a good chance he will live longer. Whatever you are doing, you're doing it right, so keep it up. One caution though--he for sure has slowed down over the years, so don't tie him up outside and leave him alone. He could be attacked and not be able to get away. Enjoy your walks and give your old gentleman BIG hugs from us here!
