My cat has always bitten me on the nose when I am making a fuss of him. He's 12 now, I don't think it's a malicious bite. Does anyone elses cat do this?

Not on my nose because Chelsea is a bit odd so I don't get my face that close to her. But when I pet Chelsea and stroke her fur one time more than she would prefer, she chomps my hand. Not hard. It seems like she has no intention of hurting me but she gets a funny look in her eye and I really know better but I go in for one more stroke and "chomp"! It fascinates me that she is like that because I raised her the same as all of the others. At 12, it is too late to teach your cat that it is wrong but any biting like that really should be discouraged because it would not be so cute or funny if he did it to somebody else or even worse to somebody's child. I just warn my guests and pet sitter not to trust Chelsea. If they want to pet a cat, there are 9 lovely girls here who do not bite.

I had a cat for 15 years and once he had enough of sometimes, he'd bite at your hand. It wasn't even enough to leave a mark, so I had no problem with it. It was his way of telling he he didn't want something and it was okay with me. If it doesn't hurt, I'd just leave it alone. Especially at 12 years.
