Have your vet check your kitty to make sure the spot is only a lick granuloma & nothing more serious. Licking a spot raw is often an obsessive behavior caused by boredom. Your vet will be able to give you ointment for the sore that tastes bad & stops the cat's licking.
Get your kitty a cat tree, get him a toy such as TurboScratcher, best of all get him another kitty as a playmate so he has a companion & better things to do than to sit bored & lonely for hours. Get a laser light or other interactive cat toy & spend some time everyday playing with your cat to run off some of his energy. A cat doesn't need to go outside to be happy. My cats never go outside. They have their cat trees, their toys, & each other as well as me to play with. They spend hours every day playing together. The young lively ones even have created themselves a "racecourse" that runs in a rough oval shape through several rooms & they race around this oval like a bunch of horses on a track running off energy.

I might try using PETfection Hot Spots/Wound Spray on him. It is 100% Organic and Non Toxic and is great at healing up area's quickly. You can use it as often as needed without hurting him. Hope this helps, good luck!
