my cat has a brown/black raised mole looking thing on his back. What is it please help....and he is overweight....

It's worth getting him an exam at your vets. It could be a mole but may need to be removed if it is the type that could be cancerous. Its also possible that its a tick that the vet can remove. Th evet can also give you an idea of how overweight he is.
Best bet for his weight is to feed him good quality high protein/low carb cat food which will make him feel satisfied and eat less. Wet is best. If he prefers dry measure out a quarter cup morning and evening and don't let him freefeed on a big bowl or he'll over eat. Evo or Wellness Core are good high proten foods. Most canned foods are reasonably high protein/low carb - just watch for ingredients like corn, wheat, rice, soy near the start of the ingredients list.
If you can get him to exercise by playing with him for 30 minutes a day that will help him lose weight too. A toy like a ping pong ball or fishing pole toy is good as they'll get him to run around. Sassy loves the Panic Mouse electronic toy for play/exercise.
