my cat ate a piece of a ripped t-shirt

i had to pull it from his bottom because he couldnt get rid of it himself. now it seems like he cant stop using the litter box. and it smells extremely horrid.

I would take him to the vet. You should never pull anything out of your cat's bottom because you could have done some damage to his intestines by forcing it out.

Yes, he needs to see a vet, and right away. The t-shirt may have wrapped around a loop of his intestines. He may have a partial blockage. Without treatment, he could die. Plus, he must feel completely miserable. Poor baby.

Your cat is obviously either an "eater" or a "chewer", so keep ANYTHING tempting (thread, laces, ribbon, yarn, dental floss, cords) away from him if he survives this (and he should, with proper treatment). Cats' tongues have barbs on them. Once they start ingesting something like this, they can't stop. It's not like they have hands to pull it out.

He sounds like he's bored, so get him safe toys, like ping pong balls! And something safe to chew on (not sure what products are available for cats at this time).

I'd take him in to be on the safe side. You want to make sure that there's no additional pieces of the t-shirt still inside him.
