My 7 yr old spayed white cat hisses at me for no reason & hides out. I did get my dad's 12yr old neutered sweet cat.

In the past year, I got my dad's 12yr old male neutered cat. He is very healthy and extremely sweet My female cat refuses to get along with him. He never fights with her but she hisses and runs and hides. She does play and get along with the neighborhood cats.

If you brought your Dad's cat home and just let him loose in the house, he instantly became an invader in your own cat's "space". Cats are very territorial, and when we bring home another, we need to keep them separate for as long as it takes for the resident cat to become curious about the newbie. Outside cats can be even more territorial and unwelcoming. About the only thing you can do is go back to square one and put Dad's cat in a room by himself. Don't abandon him in there, give him a box, food, water and a bed and visit him as frequently as you can so he doesn't think he's being punished. Also, spend extra time with your cat.
