He even pees in the tub in the basement bath if the door is left open. I have used the cat spray Nature's Miracle in the white and res bottle. I have cleaned the floor baseboard and counters areas with clorox cleanup. He has even destroyed one of my roller board suitcases and a acouple weeks ago number 2 in my other suitcase. I don't know if this is protest of me being gone so much or a medical problem. He is my 3rd cat who was very close to my black lab. I had to put him to sleep almost 5yrs ago. I rescued another cat named Max to keep him company but they did not get along, so after a year I had to take Max back. I am not sure if this is what started it all. I don't know what else to try. Any suggestions will be appreciated

You do need to take him to his vet to make sure there are no health issues involved. Make sure he has plenty of litter boxes around the house, all kept scrupulously clean, so he always has one nearby. He may be overly sensitive to the loss of your dog and also the appearance and then disappearance of Max. When you take him to the vet, ask for advice on how to treat your cat, socialize him and let him know that it's OK. He's probably lonely since you're gone so much, so spend as much time as you can when you are home with him. Your suitcases may have strange scents that he doesn't like and he's marking them with his own scent.
