my 6 month old female cat keeps biting our 10 year old male cat.why?

It could just be kittens being kittens. Sometimes, especially if the older cat is not very assertive, kittens just don't get that older cats don't want to play with them. If that's the case you can help back him up by squirting her with clean water in a spray bottle or squirt gun and/or hissing at her like an angry cat every time you catch her in the act. Don't bother trying to punish her after she stops doing it- she'll never connect her previous actions with the deterrent. And never use physical punishments.

The other possibility is that if she hasn't been fixed yet she's just starting to go into heat and is frustrated that the male isn't trying to mate with her. If that's the case she's definitely ready to be fixed and should be done as soon as possible both to calm her down and to prevent unwanted pregnancy or future health problems.
