My 6 month old cat is vomitting yellow bile can this be stress related?

I just welcomed a 6 month old, male, Russian Blue cross into my home at 7:40 PM last night, between 3 AM and 6:30 AM he threw up yellow bile 6 times. He seems to be a good weight and also ate and drank water and hasn't had any issues with using the litter box and while cleaning the litter box I did see feces and urine and upon examination as much as I could there were no signs of blood in either. What concerns me is that when my husband saw my cat vomit he was having issues staying keeping upright. I would like to know if this could be stress related from going from one environment to another or is this pet neglect from the previous owner and should I take him to the vet to be checked out?

Yes, and yes. This could be stress and you should take him to your vet just in case. Any time we adopt an animal, it should be introduced to its own vet within a few days of acquisition, even if it came from a reputable shelter with a vet. When I rescued Izzie, his first night in my spare room he exploded all over from both ends. Part of it was the food (he was eating kitten food instead of whatever he found outside) and part of it was stress. The balance issue does concern me. It could simply be an ear infection or it could be something neurological. Because we don't know your cat, it's not possible to diagnose or treat over the Internet. He needs a hands-on exam from his own vet whom he'll deal with for the rest of his life. And, if there is any question of neglect from his previous owner, this should also be reported to your vet. Good luck and keep us updated on how he's doing. Join Catster and post photos!
