Leo, my 7 year old maine-coon seems to be losing the bushy tail hes always sported. His tail is less full and less furry
Leo is about 7 years old. He is a maine-coon, probably with some mix. He was neutered at 4-6 months old. Has his shots. Indoor/outdoor kitty. Has always sported a "coon tail"...very bushy and full. The last month or so we have noticed that his tail has become remarkably thinner. It is no longer bushy. I can understand if this is because of his aging...but so suddenly? We have not chaned his feeding or activities. He acts normally, just a plain tail now.

It could be his age. Look on him to make sure he dose not have fleas they can make a cats hair thin if they scrach and bit at them alot
There is a laundry list of reasons why your kitty is losing his fur and really the only one who can tell for sure what the reason is would be a vet. They can look at his skin and fur, take skin scrapings, question you about his diet and whether or not he's scratching, etc. They can test for external or internal parasites, thyroid or other hormonal problems, and even food or other
allergies. You should try to get your cat into your vet as soon as possible and get
some testing done to determine what the problem is and get started on proper
treatment. Good luck!
