Lately my cat has been turning her nose up at the wet canned cat food I've been feeding her.
I give her 2 cans a day. once in the morning and once in the evening. She generally eats the 1st can since she's hungry but then turns her nose up at the 2nd can and then spends the rest of the evening yelling at me. I've been feeding her the frisky brand. I'm getting tired of tossing cat food in the garbage cause of her not eating it the night before.

my cat does the same... but I think its because she's full.. cats only eat when their hungry.. and the first can filled her up, so the second isn't as good looking. (do you feed her the same flavor?.. I try to mix it up.. that helps a lot!) And a secret to preserving the cat food.. you can 1. give her half a can at night. 2. give her a whole can, then put a napkin over the bowl to help it from drying out. 3. mix water in with the dried out cat food. all these things work, because I do the same with kitty! I'm not sure how to cure the wining however.. kitty does the same.. I don't know how to fix this either X-x

HA!! Welcome to the world of Being Owned By Your Cat!! 8-) I've often said I want to take my 3 to the grocery store, open cans and say, "You like this one? How about THIS one?" and even if they like it that day, there's no guarantee they'll like it the next. Some cats don't like the pate kind (mine) and some don't like the chopped up kind. I buy the small cans of Fancy Feast Medleys and they are pretty consistent in liking that one. Of course--it costs almost $1 a can! You can try putting a small portion of her wet food in the microwave. Maybe she'll eat it if she can really smell it. I think all of us have cats who are finicky eaters at one time or another and we experiment with different food. My cats get a1/3 of a small can twice a day and they're happy with that. When she starts "yelling" at you, try playing with her. Maybe she wants your attention. If she has dry food down all the time, she's probably not hungry.

I think it might be what I call "flavor rebellion"! Joey does the same thing when he gets too much of one flavor - so I give him the little cans of Fancy Feast - he gets one flavor in the morning and another at night - I also mix it up between the morsels and pate. They are finicky aren't they!!!

I had that problem, too - my 5 yr old kitty only likes the Frisky brand and only the ones with gravy. He gets 1/2 can at night only. Whn it's finished, he gets Purina Indoor dry food and snacks twice/day. The other half gets wrapped in a baggie in the fridge until the third night, and he'll eat it cold. [I vary the type every night]. I learned by his snubbing that he won't eat the mushy kind or with eggs or cheese!

Instead of giving her a full can in the morning, give her a half a can. What i did with my babies was when i first started giving them the canned food i gave 1/2 a can 2 times a day. I try to give a different flavor each day. now i give them only 1/3 to 1/4, 2 times a day and the seem satisfied. I leave a small bowl of dry out during the day for if they get hungry.

Well first of all she's a female, and this is supposed to be more of a male's need. I am so not saying that females don't need it though. I don't know about the fussing but she doesn't necessarily need two cans a day. It mainly depends on how many cats are sharing the can, if any. Also, some cats may need to have more of a variety in their brands of wet food. I made this mistake at a time myself. My cats used to love the Fancy Feast I gave them and after awhile they shunned it. Try different cans of wet food every day, and see if that works. How many cans of cat food she needs depends on the appetite of the cat, and how many there are. One or two will be okay with one. Three or more may need two. If the cat does not like having a second can, then that's fine. One is still just fine, end of story. We have two cats who share one can and they are just fine that way.

This answer is a bit after the fact but...
Type/Brand: We eat pate! We do not like shredded, chopped, diced or sliced. Some brands we hate and some we love. The Small Fancy Feast seem to be a Fav of almost all cats. We get the old Pop to rotate flavors. He now knows what we like but getting here was a trial and error thing. He would buy one of each and put down 2 different at a time. He would then make a record of which was favorite and if we would even eat them both. In time he got quite a big data base of our favorite flavors-brands.
Amounts: A full grown cat can eat 2 cans but that is a good bit. All are different but we like a can each daily. Rumpy is growing so he eats a bit more. We now have 5 here as Grimmie is a boarding foster so we get 6 cans. We also get a small handful each of dry in the morning and evening as a treat.
Health: Buddy Bud has gotten very healthy as he was a bit too large. We boys are all happy and healthy!

If Ka - zar walks me to his bowl and won't eat his food. I just pick it up stir it and then put it back on the floor most of the time he eats without fail.
When he doesn't eat after I've stired it I sniff it as it can mean he doesn't like the smell of it or it gone dry.

Another trick is to add some lukewarm water to dry food and see if she eats that.
