If you put sugar or honey on your morning cereal and there's about a tablespoon full of milk at the bottom of your bowl, it won't hurt Ronnie. But beware that chocolate is poisonous to dogs and cats and animals can become addicted to sweet stuff just like we humans can, creating a weight problem. By " a taste" if you mean licking the frosting off a piece of cake, that's a no-no, but a little peanut butter or a tiny bit of jelly off the end of your finger once in a while isn't going to hurt him.

My old guy loves watermelon! He will haunt me for it - and pushes his way into the bowl - it's like crack for him - the vet said it's okay in moderation and in his case a great way to get more moisture into his diet. Some fruits are harmful to cats (grapes, etc.) but it's better than candy.
