I found waldo about 13 years ago while walking home. He walked right up to me not afraid of anything. He was about 5-6 weeks old and fearless. He is black long or medium fur(1.5-2 in.)that never mats or clumps and is soft as air ,yellow eyes and he is a big guy weighs about 15Lbs. He has tufts of fur between pads the of his feet. He shares alot of characteristics of the ragamuffin. He is good with kids, not afraid of people at all and is addicted to attention of any kind. Waldo seems lazy but he is always ready to play. He loves wrestleing with my hands and does the best he can not to scratch me but it happens occasionally. The thing is I can't find anything on all black ragamuffins. When I found him I had a black lab and they got along fine but moose died. Now he hates all dogs even puppies who pose no threat. Is Waldo a ragamuffin? Or is he just unusually friendly(except for dogs) for a domestic stray? All the cats I have owned were found and Waldo is unique to all.

Without a photo here, it's hard to tell -- but could Waldo be a Norwegian Forest Cat? They come in black and all sorts of color combinations.

They are also big, shaggy-furred, and really sweet-natured and fearless. The tufts in the toes would fit this breed, too.

Our former and much-loved Frisbee was a champagne-colored Norwegian Forest Cat who came to us much the same way Waldo did. He never thought much of dogs, but he was generally just a really mellow kitty and lovebug.
