Jenny

i'm going on 1 wk vacation and thinking of bringing my cat to my daughters new studio apt.

My daughter who recently moved from my apt had bonded with Jenny says she would take the cat but is concerned that there is an open steam heater in the room and wonders if Jenny will know to stay away. Also, she thought Jenny might be upset and nip her as she has done it in the past. Is it a good idea to bring her to my daughters or should I just have the doorman come up to feed her, the problem with that being that Jenny doesnt like people coming to my apt without me and becomes aggressive.

Cats are almost universally happier staying in their own territory alone with someone coming to feed them and change their litter than they are going to some strange place with other people for vacations shorter than one month. She might not be terribly thrilled to have the doorman come in every day but if all he does is leave food, water, and a clean litterbox, I'm sure it will be less offensive than having her whole world turned upside down- twice. Once when you leave and once when you come back. And as long as the doorman, or better yet a petsitter, knows not to chase her down for pets if she's avoiding them or showing signs of aggression you really don't hear many stories of unprovoked cat attacks.
