I took in a stray 7 1/2 weeks ago, she gave birth to 5 kittens 8 days ago, is this behavior normal?
alright, she keeps on moving one kitten out of the nest. its happened three times, and each time it looked like a different kitten. im not sure what shes trying to do? is this normal? she has a whole room to her self and the babies. what is then normal behavior for a mother cat with kittens this young?

if it looks like a different kitten, then it's possible that she doesn't have enough milk for all five (that's a fair-sized litter), and is simply making a mathematics of biology choice. you may have to help her feed them. is she taking the kitten back into the nest herself, or are you giving it back to her each time she puts a kitten out? try learning how to bottlefeed-plenty of internet sites, including catster, someone in the kitten or health forums would likely know or give you a link-will teach bottlefeeding. then simply bottlefeed a kitten when she removes it then give it back to her, so that each will at least get some mother's milk, and thus benefit from her immunities and all the other benefits of momcat milk. more information would help...perhaps if you posted this question in our forums section, in kittens or health, where you have more room? but i'll send some people your way. best of luck, and congratulations, and bless you for taking in momkitty and her furmily

I would just keep observing if she is putting the same kitten by itself. This could mean that she senses something may not be quite right with that particular kitten. If she is doing it with different kittens, maybe she feels that she is being disturbed. Let mother do her own thing and try to keep her in a quiet and calm environment. If you have children in the household, tell them they need to let mother rest with her babies. Best of luck to you. Thank you for caring for these helpless animals.
