Before you interfer with this little family, watch very closely and observe whether the mother returns from time to time during the day and at night. The mom is out hunting. She will hide her kittens and then leave them. They know to be quiet and not move while she's away. I found a fawn once in our back yard and before I had a chance to panic that it had been abandoned, the mother was back, watching me. Know that once you interfer in this, the cats are your responsibility. If you begin feeding them, you will attract other cats to your yard. As the kittens grow, you will need to take them into your house (with the mother) to keep them safe. You will be obligated to vet the kittens (and the mother) and spay/neuter them, and then to find homes for them. I'm not advocating ignoring the babies, but be realistic and know what you are getting into. Shelters are slammed right now and won't be able to take the kittens. Be vigilant and observent of the little family, but be careful.
