I have a rescue cat. The cat was kept in the bathroom. She had free roam of our house til she started using the bathroom

i have a cat i just recently adopted, she did the same at first, i put a cat urine deodorizer around all the baseboards in my home, and continuously put her in her litter box. and anything other than urine was put in her litter box so she knew where she was supposed to go. she caught on within the first day and a half. i hope this helps.
