I have a friend who is 6 months pregnant and could have eaten food my cat licked. She is worried about toxoplasmosis. I think the possibilities of contact are very small and that a blood test on my cat (giving her full sedation as she´s quite nervous) won´t give definite conclusions. Wouldn´t having the mother tested be better?

Your friend is going off the deep end. The disease comes from cat FECES and comes with a fever. Have your friend go to the doctor, not eat sushi, not dye her hair, not drive a car and keep being ridiculous until she makes herself sick. Is this the kind of animal-phobic person that you need as a friend? ^_^
