i have a 20 yo male cat. his penis is out all the time now and his urination is a thin trickle. what does this mean?

i have been hydrating him every other day and giving him Lactulose to soften his stool as he has trouble pooping, and another med orally to increase motility. the thing with his penis sticking out all the time is new.

I have never heard of something like this. Anytime a new symptom or behavior appears, especially in senior cats, you need to contact your vet as soon as possible to see if it is something of concern. You should be able to ask your question right over the phone and they can advise you whether or not to bring him in. It may be a urinary issue and those can be quite painful and even deadly to males.

Like human senior citizens, when our kitties get old, they need to really stay in touch with their doctors. Your kitty may have a blockage somewhere or even a tumor. No one can diagnose that except a vet who can do an hands-on exam and tests. They can then suggest treatment for him. Whatever is going on with him, it's not normal and he is more than likely very uncomfortable. I'm sure he would appreciate it if you took him to his doctor to find out what's wrong.
