I dont understand if she doesnt like to be around the dog why does she keep coming back down stairs? She will hiss at the dog when the dog tries to play with her and then cat runs away after hissing but comes right back in a few sec's or min's. The dog isnt mean to her, the dog doesnt bite her or jump on her just kinda smells her butt and rubs its face on her but the cat hates it and swats the dog in the face then runs away and comes right back. The dog cannot get up stairs anyway so the cat has the whole up stairs to her self, which her food and water and liter box is up there too. I dont watch this dog all day it's only for 5hrs a day. Help anyone??

You are getting a glimpse into the Animal World. It's quite possible that your cat is having fun teasing the dog. Izzie LOVES my Springer Spaniel, Cady, but when he tries to show it, she gets up and moves. Truthfully, as long as the dog you watch and your cat aren't mixing it up with blood-letting a fur flying, I wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't sound like the cat is all that upset and if the dog continues to go by her even though she swats him (she may not even have claws out) they may just have a very unusual friendship.
