How do you stop baby kitties from not pooping in the litter box?

One of the foster kittens in my house has been pooping in my mummies bedroom outside the litter box, what is the best trick to prevent this?

Kitty Hugs to all,
Betsy

First of all, remember that kittens are really little and they might not get to the litterbox on time if it is far away or too hard to get in. Is it easily accessible with nice low sides so they can get in easily? I had a problem with Bailey peeing in the corner of the living room when she was tiny so I put a litterbox there until she was big enough to get upstairs easily. Also try putting the poop in the litterbox for the kitten and then show her the litterbox with her poo inside. She may not get the idea of proper poo disposal yet if she hadn't been required to use a litterbox before.

we fostered kitties for a while. since they were so little we kept them in a small space with a litter box with low sides. the first poster was right... they aren't going to go any distance to find the litter. as they get older you can give them more space until they return to the litter box reliably. hoped this helped, good luck!

I have missed My litter Box a couple of times. My Mommie just put the poo in the litter box so I could see that that is where I need to go. If it helps put them in a small space with the litter box. Hope this Helped! Also Betsy Im glad you care about the lil' pipsqueaks like me!
