How can I stop my two year old, fixed cat from peeing on the carpet and on plastic bags?

My female, 2 year old, fixed cat is peeing in certain areas of our house...examples include in front of the door, on backpacks, and on plastic bags, also in and around my closet. She still uses the litter box to poop all the time and for pee most of the time. At first it started with the litter box not being clean... my fault. Now even when the litter box is clean she will still pee. My mom says that if the cat continues to pee I will have to get rid of her. We are getting new carpet soon and my mom will kill me if she pees on it. I have used odor eaters, but it does not seem to be working. I don't know what to do, I can't get rid of her...I love her too much. Please help me fix this problem.
Also... we are remodeling our house could this be what is causing the peeing.

Any stressful situation could cause a cat to urinate inappropriately. However, you MUST get her to a vet to determine if there is a urinary tract infection causing her to do this If she has an infection she will continue to "be naughty." If they find that there is no infection then you can ask them for behavior modification tips.
