Hi, I recently adopted a kitten. Anyone know what breed it is? (hopefully there is a photo next to my question!)

Congrats on your new little furbaby! We often get questions about determining breeds of cats, and the truth is, without a crystal ball, it's almost impossible to tell. It seems, sometimes, to be easier to determine what breeds a dog may have in it than a cat! Izzie is a large, medium-hair Maine Coon mix. His mother was a small, short-haired, all gray kitty who looked like a Russian Blue. Unless you obtain your cat from a reputable breeder and are given a certificate of "authenticity", most cats have a really big family tree with lots of different cats crouching on the branches. Delilah's card at the shelter said "Maine Coon", and it's possible, but she's definitely a Persian mix of some sort. You can go to www.cafainc.org, the cat fancier's website and look at the photos of cats there. What a cutie!
