HELP! We found 2 male kittens approximately 5 or 6 weeks at this point...One with a boo-boo!
We found 2 male kittens in the bushes (on the main road) last weekend! Their mother got run over by a car & someone told us that there were 5 all together. We were only able to catch 2 and we saw a 3rd, but he is very elusive. We keep putting food in the area-any ideas on how to catch him & reunite all three? They are approx 5 or 6 weeks old. Now, the 2 are SUPER cute, eating wet and dry food and water. They use the litter box - Thank the Lord! So, now one of the babies has these 2 bumps on his underside. 1 is near his like from (armpit?) and the other is down on the side of his fat belly. I tried to wash them like maybe it was food caked into his fur, but they won't come off. They are raised, round, scab-like, & about the size of a dime. Maybe due to the 2 little ones rolling around play fighting & maybe his brother bit him? I am very concerned. Anyone ever see anything similar? Is this play fighting ok? They seem to be getting very rough! We plan on going to vet at 8 weeks for shots!

Don't worry about rough fighting. That's how kittens get socialized--they learn their boundaries. None of my kittens has ever inflicted injury on another aside from biting off whiskers. Personally, I'd take your kittens to the vet NOW, rather than waiting a few more weeks. They need to be checked for parasites and things like FIV and FeLV that could be passed on to your other cats, and those bumps need a professional opinion. I'm not a vet, and I'm sure that other Catsters may have an idea of what they COULD be, but the only one who can tell for sure is a vet. Hope you find kitten #3!

I agree with the other poster that the kittens should be brought to a vet sooner rather than later. They really need to be checked out now, especially if there are any skin problems (possibly ringworm ?) going on. Also, I'm sure they could use a good flea bath, but be careful not to use anything on them yet as they are too young. You could try bathing them in Dawn dish liquid, nothing else. It will remove any fleas and then comb them with a good flea comb. Also, the kittens should be eating kitten formula food. If you are feeding them dry food, you should moisten it with a little water. They are too young to just be eating dry food. They need kitten replacement formula as they were still nursing. You could always hold off and get those shots later when they are ready to get their rabies vaccines as well. Each state is different. I live in Pennsylvania and the law is that kittens be vaccinated at age 12 weeks. Best of luck to you and the little kittens!!
