Has anyone substituted thyroid cat food for methimazole while on vacation?

Hi - my cat has been on methimazole twice a day for her thyroid, but we're going on vacation for a week and it's difficult to find someone to come in so often to give her her pills. The vet suggested we use the cat food made for that purpose, but seemed vague regarding whether or not the food should be supplemented with medication. Has anyone made this transition? Thanks for all answers!

Food does not contain medicine... it helps, but is not the same. You need to hire a licensed, bonded and insured pet sitter, or a better option for you would probably be to board her at your vet's office. They know her already and can give her what she needs plus look after her while you are away. ^_^
