ya i have a cat and i was shocked ! my cousin is in the hospital and she has it but, umm i guess the h1n1 is a striain of the swine flu so its different !
but they said for a person to get swine flu is rare cuz ppl shouldnt be able to get animal's sickness's, and so it sounds normal so say ya my cat got it cuz it came from an animal it could possible be given bk to an animal !
i was reading the news online and it said that cat from iowa who did get it was 13 years old, but b4 her, 2 ferrets had gotten h1n1 but suddly they died of it ! so its not the first announcement ! they say since they dont have a cure for pets you shouldnt sneeze or cough around them, if your sick !
its bad enough its killed 6 thousand and some around the world, now our pets are getting it !!

My Mom just called me tonight to tell me she saw that on the news. I guess they are really just learning what the virus can do. It is extremely rare for any illness to cross species like that, but H1N1 can apparently mutate. I have 6 cats so in my house so I would have my own little pandemic if they got sick. The thing to do is isolate one if she gets sick and try to keep them away from you if you get sick. The same things you would do to keep the human family from catching it.

I know, it's been very confusing. I recently read a couple of articles saying that cats could not catch H1N1 but yesterday news came out about the first confirmed case in a cat. Luckily, the cat has reportedly recovered.

One confirmed case in cats means that it's still extremely rare. If your kitty seems ill or you have concerns, call your vet. Take care.
